Plot summary
Lara Croft works as a bike courier in London. Seven years after her father, the adventurer Lord Richard Croft, disappeared, she refuses to claim her inheritance or accept that he is gone. Her former guardian, Ana Miller, posts bail after Lara's arrest and warns that Croft Manor will be sold unless Lara claims what is hers. In a hidden chamber in the family tomb, Lara finds her father's research and his message asking her to destroy it. Lara pawns her jade pendant and hires the sea captain Lu Ren in Hong Kong.
