Plot summary
Thomas, Newt and Frypan are among the last free Gladers, working with the Right Arm resistance. They break the carriage of captured immune children away from a WCKD train, but Minho is not in it. He has been taken to the Last City, WCKD's base, where immune children are held and experimented on in the search for a cure for the Flare. Against Vince's orders, the three set out to reach him. Cranks, people infected with the virus, attack them on the road until Jorge and Brenda arrive. At the wall outside the Last City, protesters demanding entry are fired on, and the group is seized by masked men.
