Plot summary
Adam Petrazelli is a high school senior who dreams of becoming a chef and finds that cooking calms him. After a psychotic break during his final year, he is diagnosed with schizophrenia. His symptoms include hallucinations of three people: Rebecca, Joaquin and one he calls The Bodyguard, along with a darker voice. He transfers to St. Agatha's Catholic School and persuades Maya Arnaz, the class valedictorian, to tutor him. He does not tell her about his condition, out of fear of stigmatization.
