Biography

Kevin Pollak is an American actor and comedian who also works as an impressionist and podcaster. Born in San Francisco, he has appeared in over 90 films, often as the best friend or confidant of the lead, in titles such as A Few Good Men (1992), Grumpy Old Men (1993), Casino (1995), End of Days (1999) and The Wedding Planner (2001). He played a comical brownie in Willow (1988), a criminal in The Usual Suspects (1995), a father in She's All That (1999) and a gangster in The Whole Nine Yards (2000). His most substantial role was in Deterrence (2000), as a vice president who must take over and handle a nuclear crisis. On television, he had a recurring role on The Drew Carey Show, played Marion in Better Things from 2016 to 2022 and Moishe Maisel in The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel from 2017 to 2023. He directed Misery Loves Comedy (2015) and hosted podcasts including Kevin Pollak's Chat Show.

  1. Behind the camera

    Misery Loves Comedy, a comedy documentary, marked Pollak's first time directing a feature film. It debuted at Sundance in 2015, and Tribeca Film, a US distribution company, picked up its North American rights.

    Pollak's directorial debut came on the horror web series Vamped Out, which grew out of a simple joke he and Jason Antoon shared and featured both of them in the ensemble cast.

    Pollak's 1991 HBO special, Stop with the Kicking, was his most famous comedy work. David Steinberg, a fellow comedian, directed it, and comedy writer Martin Olson produced it.

    Pollak was set to host the FOX game show Our Little Genius in early 2010, but the series was pulled before it aired; he later hosted Million Dollar Money Drop for FOX.
