Plot summary
Grover Beindorf lives with his sister Stacy and their parents, Ned and Janet, in Defiance, Ohio. The children give the couple a video montage of their eighteen-year marriage, and then Ned and Janet announce that they are separating. Grover's friend Matt Finley suggests shutting parents in a closet until they fix things, which gives Grover an idea. He and Stacy decorate the basement with a Hawaiian theme, recalling their parents' honeymoon, and invite Ned and Janet down for dinner. The squabbling continues, so the children head upstairs and nail the door shut, telling them they will stay locked in until they resolve their issues.
