Plot summary
David Crown is at a Boston bar with his friend Eli, trying to pick up girls, when he first offends Carrie Davenport, and he fancies her on sight. She finds him appalling, and neither of them seems to show the other much interest. They run into each other again at a baseball game, where Carrie's friend and roommate Zoe gets David her number and he asks her out. The two begin dating, and cheap dates give way to nights at each other's apartments. David, Carrie, Eli and Zoe all break out of the story to speak their private thoughts about the relationship aloud.
