Plot summary
Veterinarian John Dolittle's gift for talking to animals has turned him into a celebrity, and he tours the world showing it off. Back home, a raccoon named Joey and an opossum bring word that their boss, the Godbeaver, wants a forest spared from the loggers. The law protects Pacific western bears, but the forest holds only Ava, a female, and no mate. John persuades Archie, a circus bear and the last surviving male of the species, to move in and live wild. He takes his family to the forest for a month and promises Ava that Archie will become a bear she can love, a promise he has to keep with Archie's cooperation.
