Plot summary
Ted Slauson taught elementary school mathematics and watched The Price Is Right from its early years, keeping track of what the prizes cost. At eighteen he began traveling to tapings, hoping to be chosen as a contestant. When the show did not pick him, he shouted prices from his seat, a habit that let the people on stage name exact figures and carry home cash and merchandise. Slauson says he later helped a contestant reach the exact price of a final showcase in 2008. The contestant, Terry Kniess, has said the bid was his own. Slauson also says two earlier contestants came within a small margin of the showcase price.
