Plot summary
Twelve years after he took on the role, Scott Calvin is Santa Claus, married to Carol, a teacher at the North Pole who is expecting their first child. With Christmas days away and the toy workshop falling behind, she wants time with family. Scott brings her parents, Sylvia and Bud, north, keeping his secret by letting them believe he works as a toymaker in Canada. His son Charlie comes, as do Laura, his former wife, Neil, her husband, and their daughter Lucy. Meanwhile the Council of Legendary Figures meets about Jack Frost, who has no holiday to call his own and has spent the season promoting himself. Jack is assigned community service at the North Pole, and Scott agrees to watch over him.

Did you know?!Facts and trivia about The Santa Clause 3: The Escape Clause (2006)
Can contain spoilers, watch the movie first.
- Jack Frost was first designed with an impish, elfin British 1960s look, but director Michael Lembeck did not find him threatening enough, so costume designer Ingrid Ferrin rebuilt the character around a velvet zoot suit.
- Elizabeth Mitchell began the shoot in the round, chubby prosthetic makeup her Mrs. Claus wore in the second film's end-credits dance, but after two days of filming Michael Lembeck decided the makeup was smothering any emotion in her performance.
- Playing Father Time here was the last work by Peter Boyle to reach cinemas while he was alive; his only later film, All Roads Lead Home, did not arrive until 2008.
