Plot summary
On the last day of eighth grade, Julie Corky throws a slumber party for her best friends, Hannah Carlson, Farrah James and Yancy Williams. Staci Blake, a popular girl who once was Julie's friend, challenges them to an all-night scavenger hunt. The winners eat lunch beside the fountain at high school, and the losers sit by the dumpsters. The list sends the four after a nightclub photograph, a security company's insignia, a mannequin dressed in their own clothes and the boxers of Steve Phillips, the boy Julie likes. Julie's mother Gabby has one rule for the party: nobody leaves the house. Julie pays her older brother Ren to keep their parents thinking the girls are still home, and they sneak out.
