Plot summary
Venis Parish, whose platform Traam has carried AI-generated disinformation around the world, travels to a remote Utah mountain home that Hugo Van Yalk, known as Souper, has named Mountainhead. Jeff Abredazi runs Bilter, an artificial intelligence company, and Randall Garrett, the older mentor of the group, has just learned he has an incurable cancer diagnosis. The four call themselves the Brewsters and say the weekend is a chance to reconnect away from business. Their reasons for coming differ. Ven wants Bilter's fact-checking technology so he can avoid rescinding Traam's new features. Randall wants Traam to keep growing, hoping its work might answer his illness. Jeff's net worth is rising and he does not want Bilter absorbed. Souper, worth far less than the others, wants backing for his lifestyle app, Slowzo.
