Biography
Kevin Bacon is an American actor who began in New York theater before moving into film. Born in Philadelphia in 1958, he made his feature debut in Animal House (1978) and gained notice with Diner (1982) before his breakthrough in Footloose (1984). He became known for both leading roles and character parts, with credits including Friday the 13th (1980), Tremors (1990), JFK (1991), A Few Good Men (1992), The River Wild (1994), Apollo 13 (1995), Sleepers (1996), Stir of Echoes (1999), Mystic River (2003), The Woodsman (2004), Frost/Nixon (2008), Crazy, Stupid, Love (2011), X-Men: First Class (2011), and Patriots Day (2016). He directed Losing Chase (1996) and Loverboy (2005). On television, he won a Golden Globe and a Screen Actors Guild Award for Taking Chance (2009) and starred in The Following from 2013 to 2015. He also formed the Bacon Brothers band and received a Hollywood Walk of Fame star in 2003.
