Plot summary
Travis and Harrison, two young runaways, are out on the roads of a rural county when they spot a police cruiser standing alone in a field. Believing it abandoned, they climb in and take it for a joyride, swerving down the wrong lane and nearly hitting an oncoming driver. The cruiser belongs to Sheriff Kretzer, who has just left a body in a covered pit in the woods. Finding the car gone, he tells his dispatcher, Mary Allen, to reach him by phone and has his deputies switch radio channels, then goes looking for the boys and the car himself.
