Plot summary
Mikey Taylor, autistic and adolescent, is on vacation at the Grand Canyon in Arizona with his parents Peter and Bronny, his sister Stephanie, and another family, the Carters. In a small kiva cavern he finds black rocks marked with symbols and takes them with him. Once the family is back home, the kitchen taps turn on by themselves and Stephanie finds handprints on a mirror, which Mikey blames on a presence he calls Jenny. Stephanie has been vomiting in secret and hiding it, and Bronny catches her; she and Peter take their daughter to a hospital for help.
