Plot summary
Jack Casey trades on the floor of the Pacific Exchange. A single risky trade costs his company and his family their savings, and he leaves the job. In San Francisco he takes work as a bicycle messenger, dodging the city's traffic on two wheels. His parents and his girlfriend are unhappy about the change. The work carries little responsibility, which suits him, and he puts his business sense to use for the other riders. Among them are Terri, whom he is drawn to, and Hector, who wants to open a hot dog stand.
