Plot summary
Val Kilmer spent four decades pointing cameras at himself. The record starts with 16mm home movies he made as a boy with his brothers and continues through school, auditions and the blockbuster roles that followed, among them Top Gun, The Doors, Tombstone and Batman Forever. Roughly 800 hours of it sat in boxes for years. A throat cancer diagnosis and the loss of his voice pushed him to assemble the material into a documentary about his life and craft, and his son Jack reads the narration drawn from his own words. His eight-year marriage to Joanne Whalley and their children Mercedes and Jack also figure in the footage.
