Biography

Kevin Costner is an American actor, filmmaker, and musician. Born in Lynwood, California, and raised in Compton, he began with a film debut in Sizzle Beach, U.S.A. (1981) and broke out in Silverado (1985). He became a star through The Untouchables (1987), No Way Out (1987), Bull Durham (1988), and Field of Dreams (1989). He directed and starred in Dances with Wolves (1990), which won seven Academy Awards, including Best Picture and Best Director for him. Later films include JFK (1991), Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves (1991), The Bodyguard (1992), Wyatt Earp (1994), Waterworld (1995), Tin Cup (1996), The Postman (1997), Open Range (2003), Man of Steel (2013), Hidden Figures (2016), Molly's Game (2017), and The Highwaymen (2019). On television, he won a Primetime Emmy for Hatfields and McCoys (2012) and a Golden Globe for Yellowstone, where he played John Dutton from 2018 to 2024. He also sings in the country rock band Kevin Costner and Modern West.
