Biography

Julian Richings is a British-Canadian character actor born in Oxford who studied drama at Exeter University. After touring America with a British stage show, he moved to Toronto in 1984 and within five years had joined the second season of War of the Worlds as a regular. He played punk legend Bucky Haight in Hard Core Logo (1996), appeared in Cube (1997), and earned a Genie Award nomination for his role as Bellanger in The Claim (2000). Later credits include Three Finger in Wrong Turn (2003) and Charon in Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief (2010). He portrayed Death in Supernatural from 2010 to 2015 and played Lor-Em in Man of Steel (2013). He starred in Ejecta (2014), winning a Best Actor award at the Blood in the Snow festival, and appeared in The Witch (2015) and Anything for Jackson (2020), which brought him that festival's Best Actor prize again.
