Plot summary
Bonnie Parker and Clyde Barrow have spent two years evading the law when they help a group of their fellow criminals escape from the Eastham Prison Farm in Texas. Lee Simmons, who runs the state corrections department, convinces Governor "Ma" Ferguson to bring in Frank Hamer, a former Texas Ranger, to find the pair. After a shootout in Missouri involving the gang, Hamer comes out of retirement, leaves his wife Gladys, and asks Manny Gault, a former partner, to join him, though he has doubts about Gault's sobriety and his abilities as a policeman. The two men begin their search while the FBI listens in on the families of the fugitives.
