Plot summary
Xavier Heimdahl wants a wormhole program that can bypass the codes guarding the world's nuclear arsenals, and he has the hacker Jan Strook, known as the Dutchman, build it. The Dutchman panics and tries to hand his secret to CIA agent Bill Pope, who hides him away and pays him, but Heimdahl's men catch Pope and torture him before he can say where the Dutchman is. Pope's supervisor, Quaker Wells, turns to Dr. Micah Franks, who has a treatment that can graft a dead person's memory patterns onto a living brain. The subject is Jerico Stewart, a convict with frontal lobe damage from childhood abuse. The operation leaves Jerico with flashes of Pope's past and a bag of money to find.
