Plot summary
The assassin organization Damocles owes its veteran operative Duncan Vizla over $8 million when his mandatory retirement arrives on his fiftieth birthday. Mr. Blut, who owns the company, intends to sell it; a clause in the contracts names Damocles as beneficiary, so the retirement funds of operatives who have left the work would pass to him, and he has been arranging their deaths. A former employee is killed in Chile by a hit team that includes Sindy, Facundo, Alexei, Karl and Hilde. Duncan, living quietly in a remote Montana town, knows nothing of this. Haunted by his past, he is slowly building a friendship with his neighbor Camille. Vivian, who works with both men, presses him to accept one final contract.
