Elegy (2008) on Netflix

Plot summary

For years David Kepesh has written criticism and taught in Manhattan, and his affairs with women have stayed casual and brief; he has never made a relationship last, not even with his son, Kenny Kepesh. Two people stay close to him: George O'Hearn, an old friend and poet, and Carolyn, a former student he has been seeing for about twenty years. Consuela Castillo, an elegant Cuban student, enrolls in his literature class and captures his notice as no other woman has. The two become a couple, though he is at least thirty years older than she is, and he stays unsure of himself. Consuela invites him to her graduation party to meet her family, and after hesitating he agrees to go.
