Biography

Famke Janssen is a Dutch actress who began her career as a fashion model before moving into film and television. Born in Amstelveen, she moved to the United States in 1984 to model, then took guest roles on television in the early 1990s. Her first film role came in Fathers & Sons (1992), and she became widely known as the femme fatale Xenia Onatopp in GoldenEye (1995). She later played Jean Grey in the X-Men series, winning a Saturn Award for X-Men: The Last Stand (2006), and Lenore Mills in the Taken trilogy. Her other credits include The Faculty (1998), Rounders (1998), House on Haunted Hill (1999) and Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters (2013). On television she appeared in Nip/Tuck and Hemlock Grove, and she wrote and directed Bringing Up Bobby (2011).

    In 1992, Janssen was offered the part of Jadzia Dax in Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, but she declined it so she could go after movie work instead.
