Plot summary
Bryan Mills, a retired CIA officer, brings his daughter Kim an early birthday gift and asks his former wife Lenore to dinner. She declines, then shows up at his apartment anyway to talk about her marriage to Stuart; Stuart later warns Bryan to keep away from her. The next morning a text from Lenore calls Bryan out, and when he comes home he finds her dead and two LAPD officers at his door to arrest him. He overpowers them and flees through the neighborhood into the sewer system. Detective Dotzler starts checking Bryan's background while Bryan settles into a safe house full of weapons and surveillance gear and retraces Lenore's final movements.
