Biography

Jon Gries is an American actor who has also directed music videos. He was born in Glendale, California, to the writer, director and producer Tom Gries, and landed his first screen part at 11 as Boy Horace in Will Penny, which his father wrote and directed. Cult favorites have given him many of his signature roles: Lazlo Hollyfeld in Real Genius (1985), a werewolf in The Monster Squad (1987), Ronnie Wingate in Get Shorty (1995), Harvey in The Rundown (2003) and Uncle Rico in Napoleon Dynamite (2004), the last earning him an Independent Spirit Award nomination for best supporting male. He played Casey across Taken (2008), Taken 2 (2012) and Taken 3 (2014). His television credits include Shawn on Martin, Broots on The Pretender, Roger Linus on Lost and Greg Hunt on The White Lotus.
