Plot summary
Kate Welles writes for a magazine, and her editor Monique Steinbacher rejects her explicit copy and asks instead for an article on loving relationships, due by the end of the day or Kate loses her job. Kate looks back over her own history: a grade-school romance with Bobby, a relationship with her high school French teacher, Mr. Boussard, and a college affair with Eric, an older music video director. On a date with Richard Miltner, a stand-up comedian, she meets Adam Levy at his art show, and the two become close. Kate wonders whether she is in any position to write about love at all.
