Plot summary
Kate Collins, a college freshman, is asked by her grandmother Charlotte to give the eulogy for Edmund, the family patriarch, whose death brings three generations of the Collins clan to Rhode Island. Kate's father Daniel, her uncle Skip and his rude twin sons Fred and Ted, her aunts Lucy and Alice, and Lucy's girlfriend Judy Arnolds all join the widowed Charlotte. At a family dinner, Lucy and Judy tell the family they are getting married, and Alice, who is bossy and talks constantly, criticizes their relationship. Kate keeps working on the eulogy and reconnects with Ryan Carmichael, a childhood friend who is now her suitor.
