Randolph Scott

Biography

Randolph Scott was an American actor whose Hollywood career lasted from 1928 until 1962. Raised in Charlotte, North Carolina, he began as an extra and bit player with a small part in Sharp Shooters (1928), and after stage work at the Pasadena Playhouse he signed with Paramount. Heritage of the Desert (1932) established him as a Western hero, and he appeared in dozens of Westerns as well as comedies, dramas, musicals, and adventures. His credits included Roberta (1935), Follow the Fleet (1936), The Last of the Mohicans (1936), Jesse James (1939), and My Favorite Wife (1940). He produced Westerns with Harry Joe Brown, among them Coroner Creek (1948), and worked with director Budd Boetticher on a series taking in 7 Men from Now (1956), The Tall T (1957), Ride Lonesome (1959), and Comanche Station (1960). Ride the High Country (1962) was his final film, and in 1975 he was named to the Western Performers Hall of Fame.
