Plot summary
In Marysville, bank clerk Ruth Brock draws the attention of the town's young men, among them Romer Sheffield, a rich playboy who keeps Camille openly at his mansion. She keeps her distance at the bank, but agrees to a Saturday date with Conny Billup, a fellow employee. Romer invites Conny and his crowd to his estate so he can spend time with Ruth, then the group moves to a lakeshore dance hall, where Conny gets Ruth alone on a boat. She jumps ashore to avoid him, so he leaves her behind, and she walks back to Romer's estate. He sends her home in his chauffeured car, and word of her early-morning return spreads through town.
