Plot summary
Ben Stride rides through the Arizona wilderness after the seven men who robbed the Wells Fargo freight office in Silver Springs and killed his wife. He finds a wagon mired in mud and helps pull it free for John and Annie Greer, travelers from Kansas City who admit they are new to frontier life. They ask him to ride with them to the border town of Flora Vista, where John hopes to find sales work, and he agrees. A US Army detail stops them and warns that Chiricahua Apache have been seen in the area. At a stagecoach relay station they meet Bill Masters and Clete, two of Stride's old adversaries.

Did you know?!Facts and trivia about 7 Men from Now (1956)
Can contain spoilers, watch the movie first.
- Randolph Scott insisted on Budd Boetticher as director after their earlier film together, Bullfighter and the Lady; producer John Wayne then recut Seven Men from Now without Boetticher's approval, and it has since been restored to the director's original vision.
- According to writer Burt Kennedy, John Wayne only became interested in the script once he learned Robert Mitchum's representatives wanted it, and could not star himself because he was contracted to make The Searchers for John Ford.
- The script was sent to Joel McCrea, who turned down the lead, then to Robert Preston, before Randolph Scott accepted the part in Seven Men from Now.
- Gail Russell was cast as the female lead because of her earlier John Wayne films, Angel and the Badman and Wake of the Red Witch; she had not made a movie in nearly five years because of stage-fright-induced alcoholism.
