Biography

Keith Allen is a Welsh actor, comedian, singer, writer, director, and television presenter. Born in 1953, he held various jobs in the 1970s before performing as a stand-up comedian and singer, supporting punk groups like The Clash. He was one of the breakthrough acts at the Comedy Store in 1979. He appeared in The Comic Strip Presents... from 1983 to 1993 and co-wrote the episode The Yob. His film roles include the lodger in Shallow Grave (1994), a drug dealer in Trainspotting (1996), and appearances in Twin Town (1997) and Carry On Columbus (1992). On stage, he appeared in Harold Pinter's Celebration and The Room at the Almeida in 2000 and at the Lincoln Center Festival in 2001. On television he played the Sheriff of Nottingham in Robin Hood from 2006 to 2009. He also presented documentaries and was a member of the bands the Atoms and Fat Les.

In the 1970s Allen played in the Atoms, a London punk band. Afterwards he was part of Fat Les, whose lineup included Blur bassist Alex James and the artist Damien Hirst.

Allen has worked on other football records, among them Black Grape's "England's Irie". He wrote the words for the Fat Les England song "Vindaloo" and gave "On Me Head, Son" to the film Mike Bassett: England Manager.
