Biography

Sean Pertwee is an English actor, narrator and producer who trained at Bristol Old Vic Theatre School and graduated in 1986. Born in Hammersmith, London, he grew up in an acting family, the son of Jon Pertwee, the actor behind Doctor Who's Third Doctor. He spent three years touring with the Royal Shakespeare Company, appearing in Titus Andronicus and The New Inn, before moving into screen work with Leon the Pig Farmer (1992) and the first series of Cadfael (1994). He became known for his vivid on screen deaths, notably in the werewolf film Dog Soldiers (2002), and his other films include Event Horizon (1997), Soldier (1998), Love, Honour and Obey (2000) and Devil's Playground (2010). On television he played Alfred Pennyworth in Gotham from 2014 to 2019, and his voice has been heard in video games and as narrator of Masterchef: The Professionals.

Pertwee was a co-owner of the Natural Nylon film production company, sharing it with Sadie Frost, Jude Law, Jonny Lee Miller and Ewan McGregor. He also appeared with them in Love, Honour and Obey.
