Stuart McQuarrie

Stuart McQuarrie is a Scottish actor whose career has been built largely on the stage, though he has worked steadily in television and film as well. Born in England in 1963, he trained at Glasgow's Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama and became a favorite with Edinburgh theater audiences before moving to London, where he took leading parts in new and often controversial plays by writers including Sarah Kane and Anthony Neilson. In 2006 he appeared as himself in the National Theatre of Scotland's Realism, winning a Glasgow Herald Angel award and a nomination for best male actor from the Critics Awards for Theatre in Scotland. His television work takes in Taggart, Rab C. Nesbitt, Silent Witness, The Hollow Crown and Shetland, and his films include 28 Days Later (2002), Blood (2012) and White Bird: A Wonder Story (2023).
