Jean Reno

Biography

Jean Reno is a French and Spanish actor who built a career as a leading man in French cinema, most often through collaborations with director Luc Besson. Born in Casablanca, he moved to France as a teenager and trained at the Cours Simon drama school in Paris. Early on, his large frame led to heavy roles, but he soon moved into romantic comedies and action films. His work with Besson includes Le Dernier Combat (1983), The Big Blue (1988), La Femme Nikita (1990), and Léon: The Professional (1994). He earned three César Award nominations, for Les Visiteurs (1993), Léon, and The Big Blue. International films followed, among them Mission: Impossible (1996), Ronin (1998), Godzilla (1998), The Pink Panther (2006), The Da Vinci Code (2006), and Da 5 Bloods (2020). He also voiced Mufasa in the French version of The Lion King and published novels.
