Biography
Jean-Hugues Anglade, a French actor who also directs and writes for the screen, was born in Thouars on July 29, 1955. He trained at the Conservatoire national supérieur d'art dramatique, entering its 1980 class, where he took classes with Antoine Vitez. His first television appearance came in 1980, in Michel Favart's adaptation of Balzac's La Peau de chagrin. Anglade earned two Best Actor César nominations, for Nocturne Indien (1990) and Betty Blue (1986), and he won the César for Best Supporting Actor for Queen Margot (1994). In 2010 France made him a commander in the Order of Arts and Letters. He has worked often on television and stage as well as in film, and in 2022 he played a major role in the TF1 series Visions, which premiered at Canneseries.
