Plot summary
Roddy St. James lives in a large Kensington flat as a pet rat, alone there while his owners are on holiday. A sloppy sewer rat, Sid, comes up through the kitchen sink and settles in to watch the World Cup final. Roddy tries to fool him into thinking the toilet is a Jacuzzi, but Sid pushes him in. Roddy surfaces in Ratropolis, a sewer city built from junk, and a pirate rat points him to Rita Malone, a scavenger with a boat, the Jammy Dodger.

Can contain spoilers, watch the movie first.
- Aardman Animations had traditionally used stop-motion claymation, but water is too complex to animate that way and real water can damage plasticine models, so the studio made Flushed Away its first ever all-3D CGI project.
- Aardman's turbulent experience with DreamWorks Animation during the making of this film and The Curse of the Were-Rabbit led to the split between the two studios; it was the third and final Aardman film DreamWorks released.
