Waiting for Anya (2020) on Netflix

Plot summary

In the summer of 1942, German forces occupy France. Jo, a shepherd boy in the Pyrenees village of Lescun, is the man of the house while his father is away at war. A stranger carries an orphaned bear cub home through the forest, and Jo follows him, unseen, to the Widow Horcada's house. Listening outside the window, Jo learns the man is Benjamin, a Jew who leads Jewish children on foot over the mountains into Spain. Benjamin was separated from his daughter, Anya, in the north and waits for her to reach the village. The widow hides the children and gives them food and clothing. Jo runs errands for the two of them. German soldiers take over the village.
