Plot summary
Héléna, a wealthy man's wife, invited Fred to her birthday party. Fred carries dynamite and blows open the safe in the house, taking papers. He flees in Héléna's car; her husband's associates give chase and he crashes at a Métro station entrance. He loses them on foot and on a train. He calls Héléna to propose trading the papers for money. In the back rooms he meets Jean-Louis, a petty thief on roller skates who lets him stay, Big Bill, a strongman on the tracks, and a flower seller who buys his tuxedo.
