Biography

Tom Kenny is an American actor and comedian whose best-known work is the voice of SpongeBob SquarePants, a role he has played since the Nickelodeon series began in 1999. Raised in Syracuse, New York, he spent about eight years as a stand-up comedian before moving into screen work. He made his film debut in How I Got into College. He later appeared in Shakes the Clown (1991). On television he was a regular cast member on the sketch show The Edge. He also appeared as a regular on Mr. Show with Bob and David. He voiced Heffer Wolfe on Rocko's Modern Life. He has voiced the Ice King on Adventure Time. In video games he is the voice of Spyro. He also voiced characters in Guillermo del Toro's Pinocchio (2022). He received two Daytime Emmy Awards, plus two Annie Awards, and he also appears in live action as Patchy the Pirate in SpongeBob SquarePants.

    Kenny first voiced Spyro the Dragon in Spyro 2: Ripto's Rage!, replacing Carlos Alazraqui, and kept the role until Spyro: A Hero's Tail, where Jess Harnell replaced him.

    Tom Kenny and Bill Fagerbakke, who voices Patrick, voiced the characters in real time, made up their own jokes in character, and used motion capture as well.
