Did you know?!Facts and trivia about The Powerpuff Girls Movie (2002)
Can contain spoilers, watch the movie first.
- Cartoon Network encouraged McCracken to make an edgier film, telling him to aim it at “25-year-old guys”, so the team upped the seriousness and action and downplayed the funny; by the time it was finished, a regime change at the network left the new bosses upset that it was not a poppy, colorful kids movie.
- McCracken wanted the animated band Gorillaz to record the film's closing song, since the plot involves evil monkeys attacking Townsville, and Gorillaz creators Jamie Hewlett and Damon Albarn were interested, but scheduling conflicts kept it from happening.
- Making the film was when Cartoon Network first had the idea of producing animation for older audiences, with Samurai Jack part of the same thinking; the makers reckoned they were the guinea pigs for what would later evolve into Adult Swim.
