Plot summary

Traveling through Sydney, Australia, the Mystery Inc. gang heads for a music contest at an Outback landmark known as Vampire Rock, which is named for a mythological Australian vampire, the Yowie Yahoo. One performer has already been kidnapped by vampires, and the scare has driven several other acts away. At the festival the gang reunites with the Hex Girls and meets the event's organizers, Daniel and Russell, along with Daniel's grandfather Malcolm and a competing band, Two Skinny Dudes. Daniel and Russell recount how the Yowie Yahoo turned a band called Wildwind into vampires that are said to haunt the rock. Fred enters Mystery Inc. in the contest to draw the Yowie Yahoo out. Wildwind's former manager, Jasper Ridgeway, arrives with his band, the Bad Omens.

Scooby-Doo! and the Legend of the Vampire was Joseph Barbera's first solo animated production effort after the death of his longtime partner William Hanna in 2001. It is also one of only two direct-to-video films to reunite the 1969-73 human Mystery Inc. voice cast: Frank Welker, Casey Kasem, Nicole Jaffe and Heather North.
The 2003 film was the first Scooby-Doo direct-to-video movie to use the flatter, bright art style of the What's New, Scooby-Doo? series, instead of the darker shading of the four earlier films, and the first to return to the format where the monster is not real.
