Roger Ashton-Griffiths
Biography
Roger Ashton-Griffiths is an English character actor, screenwriter and director who started out as a singer, performing at the London Coliseum for the English National Opera from 1979 to 1981. Born in Hertfordshire and educated in Manchester, he studied music at Lancaster University and graduated in 1978. His film roles include Terry Gilliam's Brazil (1985), Dreamchild (1985), Young Sherlock Holmes (1985), Gene Wilder's Haunted Honeymoon (1986), Roman Polanski's Pirates (1986), The Portrait of a Lady (1996), A Knight's Tale (2001), the Scorsese film Gangs of New York (2002) and The Brothers Grimm (2005). On television he has appeared in Doctor Who, The Tudors, Coronation Street and Father Brown, and he played Lord Mace Tyrell in Game of Thrones. He published his first novel, The Case of Cat Adam, in 2023.
