Plot summary
Nick Marshall works in advertising in Chicago, selling products to men and pursuing women with the same confidence. At the firm Sloane Curtis he expects a promotion, but agency boss Dan Wanamaker brings in a rival, Darcy Maguire, to widen the company's appeal to women. Nick's fifteen-year-old daughter, Alex, stays with him while his ex-wife Gigi is away on her honeymoon, and his over-protectiveness embarrasses her. Darcy hands the staff an assignment: advertising ideas for a line of feminine products. In his bathtub, Nick grabs a hairdryer, is shocked unconscious, and wakes able to hear what women are thinking, including what they think of him.
