Plot summary
Three years after surviving a vampire attack, Charley Brewster is in college and believes the attacker was only a serial killer. He is seeing psychology student Alex, and the two call on Peter Vincent, who is back hosting his late-night horror show Fright Night. At Peter's building Charley notices strange crates arriving and meets four odd newcomers, including Regine, who instantly draws his attention. That night he dreams she comes to him and bites him, and his therapist says the dream is just a trauma reaction.

- Roddy McDowall, who played Peter Vincent, wanted Tom Holland back for another sequel and set up a meeting with Carolco Pictures chairman José Menendez; before it could happen, Menendez and his wife were murdered by their sons, which stopped another sequel and interfered with the release of Fright Night Part 2.
- Stephen Geoffreys turned down the role of Evil Ed in Fright Night Part 2 because he disliked the script and had been offered the lead in 976-EVIL, which was scheduled to shoot at the same time.
- Amanda Bearse was busy with her television sitcom Married... with Children, so a new girlfriend, Alex, was written for Charley and played by Traci Lind.
