Plot summary
Napoleon Dynamite is sixteen and lives in Preston, Idaho, with his grandmother Carlinda and his older brother Kip. He doodles mythical creatures at school, plays tetherball by himself, and works on a chicken farm for very little money. After Carlinda injures her tailbone in a quad bike crash, she calls on their uncle Rico to keep an eye on the house while she recovers. Rico shows up in the camper van that is his home and joins Kip in a door-to-door sales scheme. Kip has an online girlfriend, LaFawnduh, in Detroit, and he wants to cover the cost of her visit. Napoleon makes friends with Deb, who is shy and sells headshots and knick-knacks for college money, and with Pedro, a transfer student from Juárez who decides to run for class president.
