The Comebacks (2007) on Netflix

Plot summary

No coach in sports has lost as often as Lambeau Fields. Freddie Wiseman, a fellow coach, talks him into returning for one last season. Fields assures his wife Barb that football will not come before the family, and they move to Plainfolk, Texas, where he takes over the team at Heartland State University. The players he inherits know little about the game, so he hunts for talent and finds his quarterback on the university's baseball diamond, recruiting Lance Truman over the young man's father's objection. Trotter, Buddy Boy, Aseel Tare, Jorge Juanson, Jizminder Featherfoot and Randy Randinger round out the squad. The players and the townspeople are wary of his methods, and he uses game films and unorthodox drills to shape the group.
