Plot summary
Rose's Manure Company owes two million dollars, and in 1963 the Federal Trade Commission is looking into its books. Then a fan accident kills Mr. Rose, the scientific genius who built the business, and the salesmen who move its product face losing their livelihoods. His daughter Rosemary has been selling high-end cosmetics and has long been distant from her father. She steps in to run the company, though she doubts her instincts for the trade. Patrick Fitzpatrick, the best of the sales force, teaches her the salesmen's art of talking a customer around. A slick fertilizer representative is maneuvering to take the company for himself.
