Biography

Chris Evans is an American actor who gained recognition as Johnny Storm, the Human Torch, in Fantastic Four (2005) and its sequel Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer (2007). He became a star as Steve Rogers, Captain America, starting with Captain America: The First Avenger (2011) and appearing in eleven Marvel Cinematic Universe films, among them The Avengers (2012), Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014), Avengers: Infinity War (2018), and Avengers: Endgame (2019), roles that brought two Critics' Choice Award nominations. Beyond comic book movies, he starred in Snowpiercer (2013), Gifted (2017), Knives Out (2019), The Gray Man (2022), and Red One (2024), and voiced the title role in Lightyear (2022). He directed and starred in Before We Go (2014), and his Broadway debut in Lobby Hero earned a Drama League Award nomination. Born in Boston and raised in nearby Sudbury, he began with early screen roles.
