Plot summary
In 1964 Kuklinski marries Deborah, and they go on to have two daughters. Their Polish immigrant father beat him and his younger brother when they were boys. To his family and neighbors Kuklinski is a normal, successful working man, and he keeps his violent side hidden. He dubs pornographic films for a living, though his wife believes he dubs cartoons. Roy DeMeo, a New York City gangster, shuts down the mob-backed company that pays Kuklinski, then orders him to kill a homeless man as a test. DeMeo takes him on as an enforcer and a contract killer. In 1975 the family moves into a house in the suburbs, and Kuklinski tells people his job is in currency trading.
