Plot summary
Nick Vaughan busks in Grand Central Terminal, where he sees a woman, Brooke Dalton, drop her phone as she runs for a train. She misses it and returns, and he hands back the broken phone. Outside, Brooke explains that she has been robbed and has no way out of the city. Nick suggests a cab to Boston, but his credit cards fail and his phone is dead. She refuses a hotel room, because she has to be in Boston by morning. Nick tracks her purse to a shop that trades in stolen bags and goes inside to get it while Brooke uses a payphone to call her husband.
